New Year's Message - January 9, 2020.
Happy New Year to all!
If you are travelling, please take care but enjoy every moment. If you are home, enjoy the warmth of friends and family. And, of course, EPC pickleball!
We have lots of news to share with you today so let’s start with 2020 renewals –
2020 Edmonton Pickleball Club Renewals are well underway now. Understandably, during the holiday season, it is unlikely that EPC membership renewal was at the top of your daily to do list. However, now, as the weather turns more wintery, please take the time to renew your 2020 membership with us.
This year, we have had to move to a new payment system and we are learning that it has been a somewhat frustrating adventure for some of our members! For that, we are truly sorry – the change in payment system was not our choice – it was a requirement – but we are nonetheless sorry if it has caused you grief.
So, when you renew, and if you have difficulty, help is available to you. If you are struggling with the system, please contact our friendly Memberships volunteers, Susan and Alix and they will talk you through it. Trust me, they are very good at troubleshooting and they are fun, too!
Here’s a tip for you to consider – the name on our membership system needs to be identical to the name on your credit card. If it is not, we can adjust it on our membership system – just let us know.
Also, while you are working on your renewal, please check all the fields on your member profile and update any field where the information has changed from last year. In particular, please check your rating to make sure it is current. If it is not currently correct, please change it to reflect your current rating.
This year, it is really important that all your member profile information is completely correct and current.
Here’s another change you will see –
In the next few months, in conjunction with work Pickleball Canada is doing, we will change to a new website with a fresh look.
No small task, our current website was developed, masterminded and dutifully nurtured by Ken Hurshowy and we are all grateful for Ken’s work. Thank you, Ken! Please thank Ken personally when you see him out and about on the courts! He has faithfully done a lot of quiet work behind the scenes on our website and we would not be where we are today without Ken.
Going forward, there will be a new EPC team working with the Pickleball Canada team to create our new website.
To prepare for the new website, in the next few weeks, we will ask you some simple survey questions related to how you currently use our website and what information you would like the new website to contain. Simple stuff, but stuff we need to know to build our new website.
Our quest for additional court space is ongoing --
We are continuing our pursuit of additional court space, both indoor and outdoor, throughout the city and we are very encouraged by our discussions with various entities and sites.
Although we have been somewhat stymied this year in finding a location for centralised indoor play, we feel the prospects for next year are looking very good. We know all members would really enjoy having all our indoor play under one roof! Stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed!
And speaking of additional outdoor courts, there, too, our prospects are looking very good. With additional outdoor courts, we can add the programs and sessions members have been requesting.
More ladders, league play, regularly scheduled mini tournaments, partners play, blended ratings play are all on the drawing board for next outdoor season.
Save the date for our Battle of the Paddle!
Our dates are now set – our Battle of the Paddle will be held June 5, 6 and 7, 2020 at the Courts at Royal Gardens and Tournament Director, Ran Newby, will be listing the tournament on pickleballtournaments.com in the near future!
Now, I don’t want to sound like a broken record (that’s dating me, isn’t it?), but please take the time to renew your 2020 EPC membership today! We have super plans in the works for you for 2020!
